Wisdom that Builds; Lessons from Proverbs: Day 4; Wisdom Loves Correction

Wisdom that Builds; Lessons from Proverbs: Day 4; Wisdom Loves Correction

Scripture:

  • KJV: “Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.” (Proverbs 12:1)
  • NIV: “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but whoever hates correction is stupid.” (Proverbs 12:1)
  • ERV: “Those who love learning will be rewarded with knowledge, but those who hate correction are stupid.” (Proverbs 12:1)

Reflection:

Correction isn’t easy to receive, but it is one of God’s greatest tools for growth. Proverbs makes it clear: loving discipline shows a love for wisdom. Rejecting correction leads to foolishness. True humility welcomes feedback, embraces God’s refining hand, and allows His Word to shape us. Wisdom doesn’t come from avoiding mistakes but from being willing to learn from them. When we see correction as protection, we grow stronger, wiser, and more Christlike.

Declaration:

“I will humbly receive correction, knowing it is the pathway to greater wisdom.”

Definition of Declaration:

A declaration is a spoken statement of truth from God’s Word that strengthens your faith and shapes your actions when spoken aloud.

Prayer:

Father, give me a heart that welcomes Your correction and embraces discipline. Teach me to see it as a gift that leads to growth, wisdom, and maturity in You. Amen.

Question:

Share your thoughts in the comments, or write in your journal: How can you better embrace correction in your life instead of resisting it?
