Surrendering our plans to God requires more than a simply saying “Lord I surrender;” it requires a radical shift of our deepest affections. It requires the action of doing, and applying what you spoke. It requires faith, trust, and believing that God will do what He said, and you can trust Him with everything in your life. True trust begins when we give our hearts entirely to the Lord, protecting ourselves from the spiritual drift that comes from chasing worldly desires.
To trust God completely, we must be willing to hand over the keys to our affections. In this scripture, the Father makes an intimate appeal to His children, asking for the one thing that dictates every choice, habit, and priority we have: He ask for our heart. It is incredibly easy to give God our outward compliance while keeping our hearts locked away. We can easily log into our devices, manage our daily duties, and perform spiritual routines without ever letting God access our deepest desires. But a heart that is not fully surrendered to God will inevitably lean on its own understanding, searching for security in people, possessions, or personal achievements.
When you give your heart to the Lord, your gaze naturally shifts. The second part of the verse encourages us to let our eyes observe and keep to His ways. What captures your heart will ultimately capture your eyes. If your heart belongs to the world, your focus will be consumed by worldly standards, bringing constant anxiety and instability. But when your heart is securely anchored in God's hands, you begin to see your circumstances through the lens of His sovereignty. You stop looking at the storms around you and start looking at the faithfulness of the One leading you. Surrender your heart fully today, and watch how He aligns your vision with His perfect peace.
