Reflection

Hey Gems & Jewels;

The second flavor of the fruit of the Spirit is Joy. Many people confuse joy with happiness, but they are very different. Happiness depends on "happenings;" if things go well, we are happy. But Joy is a fruit of the Spirit, which means it is grown from the inside out. Joy is the quiet, unshakeable assurance that because God is with you, the end of your story is already victory.

Joy is the strength of the believer. It is a deep-seated confidence that God is in control, regardless of what the weather looks like in our lives. The strength of the small is found in choosing joy in the middle of a struggle. It is the ability to smile through a tear because you know your Father has not forgotten you.

However, just as we discussed with love, your joy is a treasure that must be guarded. You are not required to give your "joy space" to people who intentionally drain you or create chaos in your life. You can love them, but you don't have to let their negativity harvest the joy that God is growing in your heart. Your joy is your strength, and you have every right to protect that strength by setting boundaries with those who try to steal it through constant drama or manipulation.

Life Skill Tip

Practice “Joy-Spotting.” No matter how difficult your day is, find three small things that brought you a spark of joy; a good cup of coffee, a kind text, or a beautiful sunset. By focusing on these small treasures, you train your heart to look for God's goodness instead of the enemy's distractions. Remember, you are the steward of your atmosphere. If a person or environment is consistently toxic to your joy, use your wisdom to limit your exposure.

Declarations

The joy of the Lord is my strength and my shield.
I have a wellspring of joy within me that cannot be dried up by circumstances.
I choose to focus on God’s goodness rather than my problems.
I protect my peace and my joy with divine wisdom and healthy boundaries.

What is a Declaration

A declaration is a formal and confident statement of spiritual truth intended to align your spoken words with God’s promises, shifting your mindset and environment.

Prayer

Father, I thank You for the gift of Joy. I thank You that my strength doesn't come from my situation, but from Your Spirit living inside of me. Help me to remain joyful even when the road is rough. Give me the discernment to protect my joy from those who would try to deplete it. I choose to rejoice in You today, knowing that You are my source and my love, joy, and peace. In Jesus name. Amen.
