Reflection
Hey Gems & Jewels;
The final flavor of the fruit of the Spirit is Self-Control (or temperance). After love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness, we arrive at the "gatekeeper" of the garden: Self-Control. While it is listed last, it is by no means the least. Self-control is the spiritual muscle that allows us to manage our emotions, our tongues, our finances, and our time.
It is the internal boundary that keeps us from overextending ourselves or reacting in ways that damage our testimony. Self-control is the fruit that governs all others. It is the ability to say "yes" to God’s Spirit and "no" to our own impulses, ensuring that our lives remain a safe and healthy garden for His glory.
The strength of the small is found in the "no." Every time you choose not to respond to an insult, every time you choose to steward your money instead of overspending, and every time you choose to rest instead of burning out, you are exercising self-control. It is important to realize that self-control is actually a form of self-love and self-protection. It is the wisdom to know that just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
Self-control is also your greatest weapon against those who would mistreat you. You are not required to be a "yes" person to everyone’s demands. In fact, the fruit of self-control gives you the power to say "no" to people who drain you, "no" to situations that compromise your peace, and "no" to anyone who tries to mistreat you spiritually, mentally, or physically. Self-control is the fence that keeps the "pests" out of your garden.

Life Skill Tip
Practice “The 24-Hour Rule.” Before making a major financial decision or responding to a heated message, give yourself 24 hours. This space allows the "heat" of the moment to cool down so that you can respond from a place of the Spirit rather than a place of impulse. Remember, the Lord has given you a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind; which is the foundation of true self-control.
Declarations
I am empowered by the Holy Spirit to walk in perfect self-control.
I have a sound mind and the wisdom to govern my life well.
My "yes" is meaningful and my "no" is powerful.
I protect my resources and my peace through divine discipline.
What is a Declaration
A declaration is a formal and confident statement of spiritual truth intended to align your spoken words with God’s promises, shifting your mindset and environment.

Prayer
Father, I thank You for the gift of self-control. I ask that You strengthen my inner man so that I can lead a life of discipline and order. Help me to manage my heart and my home with Your wisdom. Give me the strength to say "no" to things that aren't good for me and "yes" to everything You have for me. I thank You that I am not a slave to my impulses, but a steward of Your grace. In Jesus name. Amen.
