Esther’s Courageous Timing: Day 3; The Power of Strategy and Favor

Esther’s Courageous Timing: Day 3; The Power of Strategy and Favor

Preparation and discernment lead to a single point: action. However, Esther did not act with reckless haste. She moved with a divine strategy that combined her earthly influence with God’s favor.

Key Scriptures: Esther 5:2

Esther 5:2 (KJV)
And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

Esther 5:2 (NIV)
When he saw Queen Esther standing in the court, he was pleased with her and held out to her the gold scepter that was in his hand. So Esther approached and touched the tip of the scepter.

Esther 5:2 (ERV)
When the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, he was very pleased. He held out the gold scepter that was in his hand. So Esther went into the room near the king. Then she touched the tip of the scepter.

Reflection

Courage is not just the absence of fear; it is the presence of a plan. When Esther stepped into the inner court, she was breaking a law that carried a death penalty. But she didn't just walk in and start shouting her demands. She relied on the favor she had cultivated and the strategy God had whispered to her heart.

The king’s extended scepter was the physical manifestation of God’s "Yes." Often, we want to kick down doors that God wants us to walk through with favor. Strategy is how we steward that favor. Esther invited the king to a banquet before she revealed her request.

She understood that timing is as much about the "how" as it is about the "when." If you are facing a giant today, ask God for the strategy that turns your courage into a breakthrough.

Life Skill Tip

When presenting a difficult request or proposal, use the F.A.V.O.R. framework:

Formulate your thoughts clearly,

Acknowledge the other person’s position,

Validate the timing,

Optimize your tone, and

Request with humility. A well-timed, respectful approach often yields better results than an aggressive one.

Declarations

I walk in the favor of the Lord.
My strategies are birthed in prayer and executed with excellence.
Every closed door in my life must respond to the Favor from the Lord.
I have the wisdom to know how to present my petitions at the right time.

What is a Declaration

A declaration is a formal and confident statement of spiritual truth intended to align your spoken words with God’s promises, shifting your mindset and environment.

Prayer

Lord, I thank You that Your favor surrounds me like a shield. As I step out in courage today, give me a divine strategy. Show me the steps to take and the words to speak. I trust that You have already gone before me to prepare the hearts of those I must encounter. Let Your "Yes" be my strength. In Jesus name. Amen.

Today’s Jewel: Emerald

What it represents: The Emerald represents growth, renewal, and the flourishing of life.
How it fits the message: The extension of the scepter brought a "renewal" of hope to Esther’s mission. Just as the lush green of an emerald signifies life, God’s favor breathes life into our plans and causes our efforts to flourish.

Question

Is there a "scepter" you are waiting for God to extend in your life? How can you prepare your strategy while you wait?
