Wisdom that Builds; Lessons from Proverbs: Day 6; Wisdom Begins with the Fear of the Lord

Scripture:

  • KJV: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)
  • NIV: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)
  • ERV: “Wisdom begins with fear and respect for the Lord. Knowledge of the Holy One leads to understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10)

Reflection:

True wisdom doesn’t come from books, degrees, or human intellect alone. It begins with reverence for God; acknowledging His greatness, holiness, and authority in every part of our lives. The fear of the Lord isn’t about terror, it’s about awe and respect. When we honor God above all, our decisions align with His will. Real wisdom is not just knowing facts but living in obedience and reverence to God.

Declaration:

“The fear of the Lord is my foundation. In reverence, I walk in true wisdom and understanding.”

Prayer:

Lord, teach me to fear and honor You above all. Let my wisdom not be built on pride or human strength but on the knowledge of who You are. Amen.
