Reflection
Hey Gems & Jewels;
We are beginning a deeply personal and heart-centered series titled The Secret Place, where we will look at what it means to truly abide in the Presence of God. In the opening verse of Psalm 91, the Word of God presents us with a powerful condition and a promise. The condition is dwelling; not just visiting, not just passing through during a crisis, but making your permanent home in the "secret place." The Hebrew word for "secret place" is sether, which means a hiding place, a covering, or a veil.
What does the Word teach us about this dwelling place? It shows us that our spiritual safety is found in proximity to the Father. When you are dealing with the heavy sting of grief, the weight of family heartbreaks, or the exhaustion of mental and emotional battles, the natural tendency is to try and fight in your own strength. However, the Scriptures reveal that the "Most High" is our shelter. To dwell in this place means you have decided that God’s Word is your ultimate reality. When you sit with your Bible, you aren't just reading text; you are stepping behind the veil. In the Secret Place, the Lord becomes your Waymaker and your Deliverer, not because you are perfect, but because you have chosen to stay close to Him.
Notice the promise that follows: those who dwell there shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. To abide means to stay, to remain, and to find rest. A shadow only exists where the source of light is present and close. If you are in the shadow of the Almighty, it means He is standing right over you. This is the ultimate well-rounded protection. Whether you are navigating a physical health strain or a spiritual battle, the Word promises that God’s Presence is a canopy that covers you. As we grow and enter higher levels of life, our primary responsibility is to ensure that our hearts never leave this place of intimacy.
Stewardship of your close relationship with God means protecting your time with the Lord. The enemy of your soul wants to keep you so busy with the demands of life that you never find time to dwell with the Lord. But the Word shows us that Jesus Himself often withdrew to "secret places" to pray and reconnect with the Father. To follow His example, you must intentionally set aside the noise to hear His voice. As a True Gem and a child of God, your strength does not come from your achievements; it comes from your abiding. Stand tall in the truth of the Word today, slip into the Secret Place of prayer, and trust that under His shadow, you will find everything you need to be healed, equipped, and encouraged.

Life Skill Tip
Practice The Sanctuary Minute. To cultivate a habit of dwelling, take sixty seconds three times today to completely silence your environment. Put down your phone, step away from your digital workstations, and simply repeat Psalm 91:1 to yourself. By taking these intentional "intervals of intimacy," you train your mind to return to the Secret Place as its home base, even in the middle of a busy or stressful day.
Declarations
I will dwell in the Secret Place of the Most High.
I find my rest and my safety under the shadow of the Almighty.
I refuse to be moved by the noise of the world, for my heart is hidden in Christ.
My God is my Deliverer, my Waymaker, and my permanent Sanctuary.
What is a Declaration
A declaration is a formal and confident statement of spiritual truth intended to align your spoken words with God’s promises, shifting your mindset and environment.

Prayer
Father, I thank You for the Secret Place. Thank You for being a hiding place for me when the world feels heavy and my heart is weary. Forgive me for the times I have tried to handle my battles alone instead of running to Your shadow. I lift up every reader and family dealing with grief, heartbreak, or any spiritual or physical strain today. Be our Comforter and our Shield. Draw us deeper into Your Presence and teach us how to truly abide in You, so that we may walk in the peace and authority that only comes from knowing You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Furthermore, it takes determination to protect your time with the Lord and remain grounded in His Word when the world demands your attention. This artwork carries no power to change your life; that power belongs solely to God, Jesus, and His Word. Question
In Psalm 91:1, the Word emphasizes dwelling rather than just visiting. When you look at your current life; the grief, the battles, or the heartaches; are you running to the Secret Place only when things go wrong, or are you making it your permanent home? How can you spend more time "dwelling" in the Word this week? Share your thoughts in our comments below or write them in your journal.
